DigitArt 3D: Le ceramiche di Giulia Caffo is an interactive museum installation hosted at Palazzo Sturm, home of the Giuseppe Roi Ceramics Museum. Through two touch tables, visitors can follow a story in five chapters, play with the ceramics and examine the objects of the collection in 3D. Tactile 3D-printed reproductions also make part of the content accessible to blind and partially sighted visitors.
The experience tells a fictionalised version of Giulia Caffo's life through ceramic objects from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Each chapter links a stage of the narrative to a minigame, turning the collection into an active part of the story.
Visitors can follow the whole story, jump straight into the minigames or examine the ceramics in the 3D viewer.
A creative mode lets them decorate the objects, working on shapes and colours by touch.
Two large touch tables make the interaction immediate for very different audiences.
3D-printed reproductions with raised elements sit alongside the screen and widen accessibility for blind and partially sighted visitors.
