I'm Fading is a demo serious game designed to raise awareness among the families of people with Alzheimer's. Players rebuild a grandmother's memories by putting photographs in order and gradually come to understand the difficulties shown in her daily life. An additional mode lets families create new sequences from personal images, as a support for memory and conversation.
A young woman reads her grandmother's inability to choose an ice cream as frustrating.
At home she finds photographs scattered around a white halo: putting them back together means stepping into her grandmother's memory.
Players look at the photographs, rebuild their order and watch the whole story again.
The mechanic makes the difficulty of organising and retrieving memories tangible.
A dedicated mode lets families build new sequences from personal images.
The game becomes a tool for training memory and creating occasions to talk.
