Respect — For who I truly am is a virtual reality serious game about raising awareness of bullying. Players interact with a student, but the system deliberately narrows the available replies until it leads them into offensive behaviour. The experience then confronts them with the consequences of their actions, using discomfort as an educational tool.
Players meet a student who tries to share the things she loves.
The available replies are progressively narrowed, pushing them to mock and belittle her.
The restriction isn't a limit of the game, it's the heart of the project.
By putting players in an uncomfortable position, the experience makes visible the weight of behaviour often dismissed as harmless.
Respect uses immersion and interaction to address bullying from a first-person perspective.
The ending brings users face to face with what they did and with its consequences.
