Bullying VR

Client:

Croce Rossa Svizzera Sezione del Sottoceneri

The “Bullying VR” project carried out for the Red Cross is a Virtual Reality experience with the topic of bullying. Brought to cantonal middle schools together with trainers, the experience aims to make kids experience an incident of bullying from three points of view: bully, victim and bystander.

stories of bullying and cyberbullying

The story recounts the school events of a group of bullies and their victim, who suffer acts of violence and cyberbullying.

During the experience, the reasons why the bully behaves the way he does and the feelings of the victim are discovered. The story is interactive and allows you to experience the events from three points of view: that of the bully, the victim, and a spectator.

different choices and endings

In each experience you can make more than one choice during the story. For example, as the bully, you can choose to break the victim’s cell phone, incite your group to violence, or renounce the act of bullying.

behind the scenes

how we created the animations

Through a Motion Capture suit, i.e., a garment capable of recording an actor’s movements, we created all the animations of the experience. Thanks to the suit, we achieved realistic animations that enhanced the impact in virtual reality.

In addition, our Team created a face animation system so as to create expressions as true to reality as possible.

reproduction of a classroom tailored to the experience

The experience takes place in a classroom that our Team reproduced in 3D based on schools in the Ticino area.

From storyboard to final experience

Before producing the experience, a Storyboard was made based on the script provided by the client. Using this tool, Red Cross was able to visualize the experience in advance and smooth out some critical issues before entering product development.
